Pain is not adaptation
Pressure-related pain is a reason to stop descending or submerging. Forcing a manoeuvre can worsen injury.
Monitor after leaving the water
Persistent fullness, hearing change, ringing, vertigo, severe pain or discharge require appropriate medical advice.
- Tell the coach immediately.
- Do not resume to test the ear.
- Record when and how symptoms began.
