In brief

What you will learn

  • Water comfort comes before choreography.
  • Readiness includes surfacing and stopping.
  • Equipment fit must be checked in person.

Control before creativity

A learner should enter, float, surface, orient to the wall and follow instructions reliably without the tail in the same pool.

Use a coached first fitting

Tail size, monofin stiffness and foot-pocket fit change the task.

  • Share any fear or previous injury.
  • Learn the stop signal.
  • Keep the first sequence short and repeatable.
